Again, the latest polls look good for Joe Biden and Mark Kelly in Arizona.
According to Real Clear Politics, the latest figures show the former Vice President anywhere from tied to six points ahead of Mr. Trump.
The same organization shows Captain Kelly anywhere from four to twelve points over Senator McSally (where has she been by the way on the issue of Russian bounties on soldiers, the clemency towards Roger Stone, Mr. Trump wishing a sex offender well, and Republicans taking their sweet time to pass a stimulus measure while people are on the verge of losing unemployment and housing assistance.)
While voters have to go back to 1996 to see a Democratic Presidential Candidate (Bill Clinton) doing this strong in Arizona this close before an election, it is important, as this writer and others for the Blog have stated, not to get complacent and to treat this as a nail biter political contest where the soul of the nation is at stake.
It is also important to recognize that while Joe Biden and Mark Kelly winning Arizona would be welcoming and historic, it is also vital to recognize that for Democrats to forge a progressive path forward in the state, the Congressional, County, State Legislature, and other local races are equally essential to moving Arizona forward.
Voters need to focus on these races as they are pivotal to:
- Steering policy such as fighting the pandemic, funding schools, building infrastructure, keeping the air and water safe, and protecting the most vulnerable.
- Participating in the process of organizing the redistricting commission that redraws congressional and legislative districts.
- Ensuring that people’s rights are safeguarded.
Moving forward, while voters definitely need to consider if Donald Trump and Martha McSally are the best solutions to leading Arizona and the nation at the federal level (in a word no,) they also need to decide:
- Is Arizona in a better position with Debbie Lesko, Andy Biggs, Paul Gosar, and David Schweikert still in the House of Representatives (is this a trick question?)
- Is the Grand Canyon State better served with Russell Bowers and Karen Fann still leading both chambers of the Arizona State Legislature? Do legislators like David Cook, Anthony Kearn, Jay Lawrence, Vince Leach, and JD Mesnard really advance the interests of the people (same comment as before?)
- Should the Arizona Corporation Commission keep the same Dirty-Dark Money interests entrenched or select three new voices with more open perspectives?
- Which candidates will best serve the people as the next Community College Board Members, County Assessor, Attorney, Recorder, Treasurer, Superintendent of Schools, or Supervisors?
- Which mayoral, city council, school board, and other local candidates are best to move Arizona towns and cities forward.
November 3, 2020, is 99 days away.
Voters need to pay attention to every race on the ballot.
That is how Democracy moves forward and thrives.

- Please check your voter registration at vote.
- Register/sign up for the Permanent Early Voting List (PEVL) in Arizona or any state that allows early or absentee balloting and mail. Arizona residents can sign up at vote.
- Arizona residents, mail your General Election ballot by October 28, 2020, for the November 3, 2020 election.
- Check-in with the Secretary of State’s office where you live to verify your mail-in ballot was received, processed, verified, and counted.
- Know the voter ID requirements in your state.
- If you can, support Clean Election Candidates with a small contribution.
- Also, please remember to stay informed on all the candidates and vote for all the offices on the ballot.
- Also, remember to research all the ballot initiatives, sign to get them on the ballot if you support the measure, and vote on them as well.
