Where is Brewer on the stimulus?

By David Safier

I see a whole lot of Republican Governors are breaking with their Reps in D.C. and saying they want that stimulus money. Vermont's Gov, Jim Douglas, seems to think that ideology talks, but pragmatism walks.

"As the executive of a state experiencing budget challenges, Gov. Douglas has a different perspective on the situation than congressional Republicans," said Douglas' deputy chief of staff, Dennise Casey.

If you were wondering whether Lousiana's Bobby Jindal is running for Pres. (after all, maybe he was just vacationing in Iowa the other day), his statement pretty much clinches it. He'll take the money, but he would have voted against it if he had been in the House. I think we have a new name for Jindal: Both Ways Bobby.

Where does Brewer stand on the stimulus? Does she stand with our Republican Reps? Will she refuse all or part of the fed money? Does anyone know? Has anyone in the media asked her?

  1. David,

You have nothing to worry about. The governor is a HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE. Have no doubt in your mind that she is hard at work looking up the word “stimulus” in the dictionary and that as soon as she finds it, she’ll make her decision, write it down on a piece of looseleaf paper, fold it up and pass it to washington on her way to seventh period.
