If you're a few libations along and the witching hour has not yet arrived, here's something you might do.
Go to Itunes or some equivalent where you can listen to 30 second clips of songs from albums. Search for "Bob Dylan: Christmas in the Heart." Then listen to a few clips. It may be too late to be "cool for yule," but not too late to partake in the weirdness of it all.
I'm a big Dylan fan, or at least Dylan up to Blood on the Tracks. And some of his recent stuff has been pretty respectable, I have to say. But Dylan, with his voice mostly gravel and his range less than an octave, singing the likes of "Here Comes Santa Claus," "Little Drummer Boy," "Have a Merry Little Christmas," "Silver Bells" and many more . . . well, there's no way I can capture the experience in words.
UPDATE: Wow! Here's the official video on youtube for Dylan's Must Be Santa. It's . . . this is something I never thought I'd say about anything by Dylan . . . kinda fun.
Happy New Year, everyone!
