Lately, I've been going after the Star's Creative Headline Writing team's assault on articles about Obama and the Democratic Party (though I've left out a few goodies from the last two days. Kinda busy with other things.)
Today, both R-cubed and pocobravo went after another Star failing: its minimal coverage of a major event in Tucson — the granting of $63 million in fed dollars to create a streetcar line which will bring jobs now and, very likely, increased business and more jobs in the future. While real and imagined failings of Rio Nuevo and the City Council are always front page, above the fold, banner news for the Star, this story squeaked in quietly on page 2: no photos, and written not by Rob O'Dell — who never saw a negative story about the city he didn't love — but by a student intern. Guess O'Dell couldn't stand the good news.
You can read more on the other blogs. Pocobravo has a good collection of photos, which re-emphasize the lack of visuals in the Star.
Shame on Tucson's only daily! Once again.
