A toxicity expert — Todd Camenisch — in the State Senate?

by David Safier

Wouldn't it be nice in a state like Arizona where the desert dust blows all around us and contaminated mine tailings are a regular occurrence, if we had a toxicity expert in the state legislature? Like, say, Dr. Todd Camenisch, who is running for Senate in LD-30?

Camenisch, a researcher at UA, is part of a study looking into the toxicity of Arizona dust, especially in mining areas. Camenisch is

. . . one of the principle investigators studying the effect of arsenic on cardiovascular development in newborns.

Imagine having an expert in the field of toxicity in the state legislature when questions about cleanups of past mining sites or concerns about new sites come up.

Imagine giving him a vote determining our future instead of Furious Frank Antenori, who was appointed to the seat when Paton left and will be Camenisch's opponent in the general unless McClure takes Antenori out in the primary.

It'll take more than imagining to make it happen. LD-30 Democrats, Independents and thoughtful Republicans, take the time to help Todd Camenisch and Andrea Dalessandro (running for state rep) bring some sanity to the LD-30 delegation.
