The mood was enthusiastic at the Spokes on Southern Avenue in Tempe on Saturday afternoon as city Mayor Corey Woods, New Mexico State Representative Linda Serrato, and Boise, Idaho Mayor Lauren McLean excited the packed attendees (many of them campaign volunteers) from Legislative Districts (LD’s) Eight, Nine, Twelve, and Thirteen in their support of the Harris/Walz ticket the weekend before the start of the Democratic National Convention.

Corey Woods presented first, saying, “We have 80 days to go…I feel very positive about how things are going in Arizona…We need to keep our feet on the gas pedal all the way to November 5…to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz…That shows your commitment and dedication to moving this country going forward…We’re not going back.”

Laura McLean spoke next, commenting, “We got 80 days. There is so much work to be done…We got to chase it…You have to run like you’re running from Zombies…I need you, our state, our country needs you to pull this race over the line…We need all hands on deck…Kamala is going to be a partner and we need her in the White House…She’ll be there for the middle class…We need her to protect reproductive freedom in states like ours…Kamala Harris says when we fight we win…we need you to fight…”

Linda Serrato told people how she ” woke up to “Freedom” from Beyonce…We need you in Arizona to show we are hoping for Harris and Walz to win…Project 2025 garbage will never come to be.”

Speaking to some of the attendees, they were amazed at the explosion in enthusiasm since their last gathering a couple of weeks ago, saying that the number of people at this event had doubled at this evening’s affair.

They credit this to the tremendous surge and popularity of the Harris candidacy and the success of the Harris/Walz rally in Glendale last week.

They also said they have found greater receptibility going canvassing door to door with many people knowing the lead candidates from Harris/Walz to Ruben Gallego to the ones running to serve them in their LDs.

When asked if the Harris/Walz ticket would prevail this November, they all said “Not a doubt” that the Democrats would win this November. While one guest, Jennifer Grigsby, wished that Harris had picked Kelly as Vice President, she praised the choice of Tim Walz and his background (teacher, Governor) and his championing of progressive issues that a Harris/Walz Administration would pursue.
