Another Fischer article without Democrats

by David Safier

Jiminy_conscience Howard Fischer has an article in Sunday papers across the state quoting Brewer, Pearce, Adams and Harper on their stand against stiffening the law on extended ammunition clips.

How do Democrats feel on the issue? Cue the crickets. FIscher doesn't offer a clue.

The article does a fair job of presenting the problems inherent in allowing people like Loughner to have access to extended clips that hold 31 bullets instead of 10, the number in a normal sized clip, and it mentions the fact that they were outlawed for a decade, from 1994 to 2004. But as in other articles recently, Fischer doesn't quote or paraphrase a single person in opposition to the Republicans. I would like to see a Democratic legislator or two mentioned in the article to balance out the three Republicans. But absent that, how about quoting someone else who is knowledgeable about gun laws and wants to advocate for a different viewpoint?

It looks like, once again, Fischer is ignoring his journalist's inner cricket — that little voice chirping in reporters' ear telling them to write stories which are both balanced and informative.
