With Texas State Democratic Legislators left with no option other than leave the Lone Star State to deny the MAGA-Election Cheating- Power Usurping State Republicans led by Greg ‘Flood Relief Can be Discussed Next’ Abbott and Ken ‘How is your wife and mistress today’ Paxton a quorum to follow the dictates of American Duce Wannabe Donald Trump and his desire to squeeze as many potential House Republican seats as possible to rig the representative electoral system to avoid a Democrat onslaught in the 2026 midterms, Arizona Democrats at the Congressional and State Legislative level have rallied behind their political brethren.
Arizona House Representative Yassamin Ansari released this video on social media where she said:
“Authoritarians don’t win by winning votes. They win by changing the rules, and Donald Trump is doing just that. That’s what’s happening in Texas right now, and it’s the beginning of what is about to be a terrifying chain of events where Donald Trump and Republican Governors across the country are literally trying to cheat the system because they know how unpopular their policies are. So they’re trying to change the maps mid mid decade in a way to go after the districts that they feel they need to win the midterm. So, here’s what’s happening…Texas has been on the front lines of this: Republicans (and) Governor Greg Abbott. They are trying to take five seats and bring them in the hands of Republicans. Now, what’s happened is in the Texas State Legislature, in an effort to fight back because there’s so many only so many ways you can fight back authoritarianism, the Democrats have literally had to flee the state to avoid voting for these new maps. Donald Trump is literally calling for the FBI to arrest the state legislators. This is just the beginning, so we know that Gavin Newsom in California has said that he will fight back by doing the same thing in California, but Republicans aren’t stopping there either. Florida has started to look into this. States like Ohio, other Republican states where JD, Vance, and Donald Trump are putting their thumbs on the scale to literally cheat their way back into keeping the majority. There have been five alarm fires so far. This is the biggest five alarm fire because we have been saying over and over again that one of the only ways we can really check this Administration is by winning back the House of Representatives in 2026. Donald Trump knows that his budget is so horrific and so devastating with its Medicaid Cuts and… tax breaks for billionaires, and the billions that it’s giving to ICE to terrorize communities that they won’t win the House in 2026 if fought fairly. So, now, they’re trying to suppress the vote. Change the maps up exactly how they want and rig the system. So, I need you guys to share this video to spread the word to look out to what’s happening in your state to take to the streets to march to protest peacefully to call your Reps to do all of the things because this is just the beginning of a crazy authoritarian power grab.“
In Boston, Arizona State Legislative Democrats rallied in support with their Texas colleagues. State Senate Democratic Leader Priya Sundareshan released the below video today, August 10, 2025.
In it, she relays:
“So that was a few days ago. Legislators from across the Nation from all different states gathered together in Boston to support the Texas Democratic Legislators who are fighting back against the rigged districts that Trump is trying to impose in Texas. I’m Arizona State Senate Democratic leader Priya Sundareshan and I want to send my love, support, and thanks to the Texas House Democrats, especially who have had to flee their state in order to break Quorum. They are doing their duty to the U.S Constitution by refusing to participate in this rigged effort to do new districts. We all everywhere across the country. We just went through redistricting, and that was four years ago. It’s not time yet. Thank you Texas house!

As Texas State Senator Molly Cook said in the below post: “Politicians should not choose their voters.”
Voters should choose who they want to serve them.
Democracy Docket’s Marc Elias has pointed out that for Texas Democrats to stop Trump, Abbott, Paxton, and the rest of the Texas MAGA Republican riggers and cheaters from carrying out their Anti Democratic gerrymandering electoral designs, they need to stay away from the Lone Star State for three more months.
Why three months.
According to Elias:
“It is therefore somewhat surprising that Republicans, spoiling for a fight over mid-cycle redistricting, chose Texas as the place to do so. Texas has one of the nation’s earliest deadlines for candidates to qualify for the 2026 ballot. Candidates for the U.S. House can begin filing their paperwork on Nov. 8, 2025. The last day to do so is only a month later — Dec. 8.
That means Republicans have little more than three months to enact a new map before it is simply too late for it to impact the 2026 cycle. While 90 days is a long time for legislators to stay out of state, it is certainly not an impossible notion. Compare that to the situations Republicans potentially face in California and New York, where the deadlines for filing are months later in 2026.
This disparity and the compressed timeline Republicans face in Texas likely explain, in part, why they suddenly seem so panicked about time. It may also signal a way out of the mess they have created.”
If Texas Legislators can stay away from their homes, the plan to gerrymander five more seats for the Texas Republicans in the 2026 midterms goes kaput.
Hopefully these brave defenders can endure for 90 days and save American Democracy.
That said, if Texas and other state Republicans like those in Ohio, Florida, Indiana, and Missouri prevail in further gerrymandering their state House lines, Democratic Governors like New York’s Kathy Hochul, California’s Gavin Newsom, and Illinois’s JB Pritzker are ready to “bring it on” and fight gerrymander for gerrymander.
