Arizona Daily Star . . . Paging the Daily Star . . .

by David Safier

Once again, the Star is almost silent on the tuition tax credit story. I say almost, because it did run an AP story this morning about today's task force meeting. Here's the opening.

A popular state program that gives dollar-for-dollar income tax breaks
for donations to groups that provide private-school tuition grants is
coming under a spotlight at the Legislature.

Not exactly hard hitting investigative reporting, is it?

You know, the Republic and the Trib have done the heavy lifting. Assign a reporter to read over their articles and pull their findings together, maybe call a few private schools or STOs in the Tucson area. Bang! You've got a story. It wouldn't take that much time.

People around here deserve to be informed about what's happening with their tax money, don't you
think? When it comes to TUSD, dollars and cents is the Star's bread and
butter. This story just might fly as well.
