Bruce Ash responded to my post below. His first paragraph reads,
You can spin your silly story any way you want but the use of Ms Romero's newborn child to fend off a recall was a cheap political move and I am sure this will come back to haunt her–
I won't quote the rest, because it's a political diatribe supporting the recall. You can read it, but I won't give it any more space here.
Mr. Ash, if you read my post below carefully, you'll see I said Regina was playing politics with her newborn in the announcement. I have nothing against your pointing that out. The only reason I wrote about the incident was your despicable use of the term, "political HUMAN SHIELD !!" That was far from playful. It was brutal. It was borderline pathological.
The difference between the two political statements is the difference between the way Democrats and Republicans play politics. Democrats think politics is a debate. Republicans know it's a war, at least the way they wage it. Democrats play patty-cake. Republicans resort to back alley, bare knuckle Fight Club tactics, with a few switchblades thrown in for good measure.
I hope Democrats wake up to the fact that they're in a new type of battle which began with Lee Atwater. By the way, Atwater repented of the tactics he created while he was dying of brain cancer (That's true, I wouldn't make something like that up), but his tactics have been picked up by Republicans everywhere.
I don't think Ds should fight exactly like Rs. We can use similar tactics, but the difference should be, our accusations should be strong but measured responses which are appropriate to what the Rs have said and done. And we should tell the truth. That's the biggest difference. We should tell the truth.
I'm please you commented on my post, Mr. Ash. I would be even more pleased if you responded to my accusation that your "human shield" line was wildly inappropriate. That, after all, is essence of both posts. Simply calling what I wrote "spin" and referring to it as a "silly story" doesn't count as a response. If that's all you have to say, it simply reinforces my point about your political tactics and personal deficiencies.
