AZ Republicans want a second flat tax

When Arizona Republicans say they want to raise income taxes on the poor and middle class, they like to talk about people who make $20,000 or less paying no taxes. They need to feel like they're part of the government, the Rs say, so they realize we have to cut, cut, cut.

Paying no taxes? What is the sales tax, chopped liver? Everyone pays sales tax, a classic example of a flat tax. We just added a penny to it last year. Now they want to get rid of the last vestige of progressivism in tax rates with their flat income tax legislation.
