Carolyn’s note: info on the African American Museum of Southern Arizona, which opened two years ago is below. I dropped by today and viewed their exhibits on the Buffalo Soldiers, civil rights leaders, The Crown Act about black hair. But lacking was any mention of Black American politicians in Southern Arizona: the late Ward 4 Tucson City Councilman Chuck Ford, current Oro Valley Councilmember Joyce Jones-Ivey, former Marana Councilman Russell Clanagan (friend of mine), and current TUSD Governing Bd. member Sadie Shaw.
Museum is located on the Campus of the University of Arizona Student Union Room 244 (ground floor, south side)
You can also get there via Sun Tran bus #4 (E. Speedway Blvd.) or #3 (E. 6th St.) to UA, or the Sun Link streetcar (E.2nd St.), all running FREE. Plus biking or walking of course.
