You gotta love this use of the term "liberal" in today's Republic article:
Arizona solidified its reputation last year as one of the most liberal gun states in the nation after the Legislature passed a law allowing people to carry concealed weapons without a permit.
Though the term "liberal" is accurate in a dictionary kind of a way, another choice of words might fit the political climate better.
Be that as it may . . .
Here is what's coming down the pike if SB1201 passes:
- Allowing guns in government buildings and public events. Universities? Yes. City buses? Yes. Community festivals? Yes. Courtrooms? Maybe. K-12 schools? No. Crazy as these people are, they aren't ready to propose high schoolers and their teachers packing heat. Yet.
- Allowing people to answer "truthfully" when asked if they are carrying concealed weapons. Right now, they have to answer "accurately." The change would allow people to conveniently "forget" they happen to have a glock hidden in their shorts.
- Prohibiting people from firing a gun with "criminal negligence" within city limits. Right now, people are prohibited from "knowingly" firing. The difference is, the new law would make it OK to fire if you didn't think anyone would get hurt.
