Blog for Arizona Calendar events have gone virtual

On March 12, the first cancellation of events due to coronavirus concerns started in our Blog for Arizona image Calendar with the Pima County Dem Party’s Nucleus Club and speaker AZ Supe of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman. Already the very popular Tucson Festival of Books on March 14 & 15 had cancelled on the UA Mall.  Day after day, progressive events on our Calendar cancelled or postponed into April and even the Fall, due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Arizona.

But now a month later, we are re-emerging as resilient progressives/activists are hosting webinars, meetings via Zoom, town halls via Facebook Livestream or telephone, movies via livestream (for a fee), etc.  I am listing these as I get the notices, or see them on Facebook.  So this post is just to let you know that we are still here doing the online Calendar and will be posting events into the summer leading up to the August 4 Arizona Primary and the General Election in November.  And now you can zoom into national virtual events as well.

For example, today there was a virtual youth summit (not even sure where in Phoenix), but it was online for most of the day. I’ve “attended” a half day UA Public Health social justice symposium on April 3rd, and a recent nationwide town hall on Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders’ fears and experiences due to the racial backlash of the so-called “Chinese virus” by our President. The latter was a zoom meeting with 550 participants.

The Calendar link is on the top of our front page, with some listings on the bottom, as well as here: https://blogforarizona.net/calendar/.

On Mondays, Blog for Arizona blogger and President of Democrats of Greater Tucson Larry Bodine is hosting their weekly speaker series via webinar.  Sign on to hear Pima County and legislative candidates speak about their upcoming campaigns in 2020 at https://thedgt.org/events.

And as always, blogger AZ Blue Meanie posts the Sunday political calendar as well for statewide events.

Coming up in April: virtual Earth Day water management event, and a Homicide Survivor’s Virtual Candlelight Vigil. Join us in the New Reality of virtual events, till we can meet in public once again.
