Earlier in the summer, I published a few stories and videos about the struggles of South Bisbee residents who were being evicted from their homes by international mining giant Freeport-McMoRan.
The demolition of homes has begun. Watch Loneprotestor's video of the demolition of a home owned by an 88-year-old woman.
From Loneprotestor…
After the reporters have all gone home, the story continues…
The soul of a house is the people who live there. When the bulldozers moved in on the vacant homes of South Bisbee, I was reminded of vultures pecking at the carcasses of the departed. As one resident sold off a lifetime of belongings, another tried to maintain a sense of normalcy and keep herself informed of upcoming reclamation. This video shows the demolition of the little blue house of 88-year-old Mabel, who lived there for 63 years.
