Well, here is it Christmas Day 2020 and what is there to reflect upon this year? 2020 has been quite a year for the entire world, with the ongoing global pandemic and over 1.74 M dead worldwide. In the U.S. alone the death toll is at 329,000. Over 8300 people in Arizona have died and several of my friends have it right now, one in critical condition. These are sobering thoughts, but a vaccine has been found and is being administered to health care workers and other front line people in large numbers.
This has also been the year when the one term 45th U.S. President Republican Donald Trump was defeated in the General Election of November 3, 2020. Our huge Resistance efforts paid off, and Democratic former VP Joe Biden, who served under President Barack Obama (2008 to 2016) will take office on January 20, 2021. And we made history with the election of our first Black/Asian woman Vice President, former California Senator Kamala Harris.
I’ve been posting thousands of Resistance movement events in our Calendar since Jan. 20, 2017 (when Donald Trump took office). Now that he has been defeated, my work has slowed down considerably, so I’m taking a much needed vacation of sorts. What a relief.
Happy holidays and season’s greetings to our readers and donors at Blog for Arizona. Merry Christmas or Mele Kalikimaka as we say in Hawaii, the 50th State where I grew up. Enjoy your time without family members or friends in an unprecedented year. Looking forward to 2021. Stay safe everyone.
Side note: To top off 2020, Kilauea volcano on the Big Isle of Hawaii, where I grew up, resumed its eruptive activity on Dec. 20, 2020 (12/20/20). It was on hiatus since August 2018. Photo credit of featured photo by Hawaii District 2 State Senator-elect Joy SanBuenaventura.

This should help tourism in Hawaii, but warning you as you will need a 72 hour covid pre-test to get to Hawaii, plus take a post test at either Kona and Hilo airports, or face a 14 day quarantine due to the pandemic. And the eruption could cease at any time.

Merry Christmas, Carolyn, everyone who blogs here and all the readers.
Definitely not our best year. I just hope that we can pull together in sufficient numbers to move forward in 2021.
Carolyn, I hope that your friend who is in critical condition pulls through.
Stay well, everyone, and have a peaceful day.
One of my favorite Christmas songs, “Christmas Must Be Tonight” by The Band. Very soulful…

Hi Liza, thanks for your good wishes. My friend had shoulder surgery and tested covid positive as well. Wonder why they went ahead with the surgery. She’s stable, but still in critical condition.
Yes, it will take a lot of work to undo the damage of the Trump/Pence/McConnell assault on God’s creation, humanity, and this country. Trump-world conservatism has always been the vile underbelly of this nation, rearing its ugly head too many times. It will never completely go away, but moderate and liberal citizens need to stay vigilant to always do our best to keep Trumpism’s manifestors out of positions of leadership and power. Their capacity for damage is all to great. Prayers for better days ahead.
Yes, we will stay vigilant here at Blog for Arizona, as that is our job. Thanks for your thoughts about the damage done by the Trump Administration these past 4 years. Best wishes to President-elect Joe Biden and his team starting Jan. 20, 2021.
