General Colin Powell, former secretary of state and chairman of the joint chiefs of staff for a couple of Republican presidents (can't use too many titles at a moment like this), has a few choice words for the Republican Party
"The Republican Party is in deep trouble," Powell told corporate
security executives at a conference in Washington sponsored by Fortify
Software Inc. The party must realize that the country has changed, he
said. "Americans do want to pay taxes for services," he said.
"Americans are looking for more government in their life, not less." [bold face added]

Pay taxes for services? You damn socialist! Next you'll say the rich should pay their fair share and that we should redistribute the wealth a bit.
Quick, someone call Joe the Plumber. We need an intervention!
