None too positive coverage of Atomic Al Melvin's idea to make Arizona the Nuclear Waste Dump Capitol of the Country. This ABC TV News 15 coverage prefers the phrase "Nuclear Waste Dump" over Melvin's chosen term: "Atomic Energy Recyling Facility."
Listen to the way the newscaster says "the new dumping ground for nuclear waste" near the beginning. It sounds like she's almost gagging on the words.
ATOMIC AL EXTRAS: On Daily Kos, Mother Mags referenced my earlier post on Atomic Al's man-on-nuke love.
I also found a 35 second video featuring a cartoon squirrel named Atomic Al from the Sarah Conner Chronicles (I've never heard of it) explaining how nuclear power plants work. My favorite part: Al says, "These lovely ladies are uranium fuel rods, and they are hot!" A winking, undulating lady rod says sings, "We're gonna start a chain reaction." When the rods go into the cooling water, Al (remember he's a squirrel) moans, "Aw, nuts!"
Finally, there's the original television soundtrack from the Sarah Connor Chronicles with a number, "Atomic Al's Merry Melody." Silly cartoon music, which would be suitable for our silly, cartoonish LD-26 State Senator, if he wasn't so damn scary.
