“Please join us for a discussion with Chris Donat about his campaign for Congress in AZ CD 6, where he seeks the Democratic Party nomination to take on current Republican Rep. Juan Ciscomani in 2026. Please note that this event will occur in the evening at 6pm, not the regular meeting time of Noon.

Chris grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, OH where he attended Shaker Heights public schools. He excelled in science, particularly astronomy, and was actively involved in music programs, playing multiple instruments. His love for Arizona began early on, inspired by the TV show “Hey Dude,” and eventually led him to Tucson where he studied mechanical engineering, Italian, and was a member of the marching band at the University of Arizona.

After earning his BS in Mechanical Engineering, Chris embarked on his career, beginning with the design of industrial automation equipment. He later transitioned into medical device development, including design of wheelchair lifts, peptide synthesizers for drug research, and most notably, contributing to the Ventana HE600, a revolutionary instrument for cancer diagnostics while at Roche in Oro Valley. Following a two-year stint for Roche’s Hematology instrument division in Boston, MA, he returned to Tucson and currently designs precision control actuation systems for Raytheon Technologies.

Chris remains engaged with his alma mater, mentoring, sponsoring, and judging senior design projects over the past 10 years. His passions extend beyond engineering, encompassing learning the piano, bicycling, and hosting clam bakes. He also shares his life with his 4-year-old Rottweiler, Ursa.”

Carolyn’s note: This CD 6 race in 2026 is becoming a crowded field. Fellow Dems Ex-Marine JoAnna Mendoza and Tucson immigration attorney Mo Goldman have already announced as well, a challenge to 2 term incumbent Republican Juan Ciscomani. Mendoza has run before for LD 11 Senate in Nov. 2020. The others are political newcomers.
