Law Enforcement in the ICE Age

We are in a time of unprecedented and exceptionally CRUEL attacks on our immigrant brothers and sisters in the Tucson community. Long-time residents of Tucson are being forcibly pulled away from their families, neighborhoods, churches and workplaces for no reason.

There has been a 68% surge in ICE arrests in southern Arizona between 2024 and 2025. Up to 139,000 people were deported by ICE by April 2025, according to reports from NPR.

Margo will cover what to do when ICE asks about your immigration status, when ICE or the police stop you, when ICE is pounding on your front door and what to do if you are arrested or detained.

ICE is arresting American citizens and disappearing brown people without due process. ICE arrests occur in various community settings, including homes, workplaces, prisons, jails and even courthouses.

Local immigration officials tortured a grandfather, father and two sons who were stopped and handcuffed, cutting their wrists, for an hour despite having legal status.

ICE is conducting immediate deportations without due process, involving the use of U.S. military planes. A Venezuelan mother with four children stopped by the Tucson police at 9:30 pm while going to the grocery store. The officer’s first question was, “Let me see your documents” (not related to any traffic violation). She was deported by 5:00 am the next day on a military aircraft. The family was separated, with the husband and two children left waiting at home.
