“Dr. Ravi Shah is an at-large member of the Tucson Unified School District in Arizona. He assumed office on January 1, 2021. His current term ends on January 1, 2029. He will speak about the need for voters to pass the bond override, Prop 414, on the November ballot this year.

The 15 percent maintenance and operations override would provide the district with $45 million in additional funding in the first year.
It would also increase property taxes by about $300 a year on a home with a taxable value of $300,000, by raising the secondary property tax by $1.02 per $100 of assessed valuation. That would cost about $25 per month.
TUSD is the only district in the region not currently operating with an override in place.
The override would last for seven years, but only five of those would see the full 15 percent levied. In the sixth year, the override would fall to 10 percent and then 5 percent in the final year.
Teachers would get a raise with $7.3 million of the override funding. Step increases would provide another $800 to compensation packages and a 4 percent raise to all other district employees.”
Carolyn’s note: Dr. Ravi Shah is in his 2nd term on the TUSD Governing Bd. (nonpartisan, volunteer position). He is currently serving as the board Clerk (not President). https://govboard.tusd1.org/
