Learn how the project works, what resources it takes and how to implement this innovative solution in your LD or other voting district.

A data expert, Mike Weingarten, led the same project to success in 2022. This canvass-oriented project uses a “three-touch” model to increase the voter turnout of a target population of left-leaning voters with inconsistent voting records.

Volunteers are assigned a group of voters and will contact them three times between now and the Election. (At least one contact will be in person at the door.)

We will focus on Democratic-friendly voters who often do not vote. There are more than 10,000 of them in LD21! Many of these voters need a little encouragement to cast their ballots.

Unless they prefer otherwise, volunteers will be assigned voters from or close to their own neighborhood. Being local helps break the ice and establish credibility.

Our votes have national implications in Arizona. We are a critical swing state for the election of Kamala Harris and Bill Walz and for the control of the U.S. Senate. We have a chance to turn Arizona blue up and down the ballot and to protect abortion care. History shows that talking to voter groups increases their turnout by 3-5%. In Arizona, that could mean everything!

Legislative District 21 spans Cochise, Pima, and Santa Cruz Counties. LD21, where 43% of voters are Democratic. It includes downtown Tucson, runs south to the border, and turns east to Bisbee.

After retiring from 30 years at Procter & Gamble as an IT department manager, Mike volunteered for the 2008 and 2012 Obama Presidential election campaigns in Ohio. He immersed himself in the VAN Democratic computer database and Obama’s ground game methods. Ohio was a critical swing state, and Obama narrowly won it in 2008 and 2012.”
