Her policy priorities include:

Education: As the daughter of two public educators and a product of public schools, Severson champions fully-funded public education and higher education reform to address student financial pressures.

Housing: She supports enforcing fair housing laws and ending rent coordination schemes that drive up costs. Severson backs the Stop Predatory Investing Act to remove tax benefits for Wall Street firms buying single-family homes.

Immigration: Advocates for comprehensive reform combining strong border security with an earned pathway to citizenship. She supported the bipartisan Secure the Border Act and will fight for the rights of all people regardless of immigration status.

Healthcare: Supports universal, affordable healthcare and reproductive rights, believing every person deserves privacy and autonomy over their own body.

Environment: Living in the desert has shown her the urgency of climate action. She supports immediate investment in renewable energy and ensuring access to clean water nationwide.

Severson lives in Tucson’s Carriage Park neighborhood and is guided by Maya Angelou’s words: “Your legacy is every life you touch.””

Carolyn’s note: Severson is one of several Dems now seeking to win the Democratic nomination in CD 6 in 2026. Also running are former Marine JoAnna Mendoza, Raytheon engineer Chris Donat and others who haven’t spoken at DGT as yet. One of them hopes to challenge 2 term Republican Juan Ciscomani in CD 6. Immigration attorney Mo Goldman has recently withdrawn his candidacy.
