About this event

“EVENT: A Peaceful Sidewalk Demonstration

PURPOSE: The citizens of Cochise County demand access to our congressman. Once again, Juan Ciscomani—during his “Epstein Recess”—has declined to meet in person with his constituents.

WHEN: Saturday, August 16th, 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM

WHERE: Public sidewalks outside of the building where our Congressman Ciscomani supposedly has an office for the purpose of meeting with his Cochise County constituents

This building, at 2600 East Wilcox Drive, on the corner of El Camino Real and Wilcox, was formerly the Sierra Vista Hospital. We will gather here on public sidewalks in front of what is now the Cochise College Downtown Center.

BACKGROUND AND WHY WE NEED THIS EVENT:

Normally, a congressional recess is an opportunity for representatives to meet with their constituents, explain what they are doing for them, and answer questions about topics of concern to them and other Americans. We and other like-minded Cochise County citizens want to hold our representative accountable to this democratic arrangement.

He has, thus far, never held any open townhall meetings.

We have, by email and phone, invited Juan Ciscomani to meet with us on August 16 outside of the building where he announced that he has an office in Sierra Vista.

Unfortunately, Congressman Juan Ciscomani’s staff has informed us that he will not accept our invitation to meet with us. This is a clear example that Juan Ciscomani is NOT responsive to his constituents. Constituents from other counties in his district have expressed frustration regarding difficulties in contacting him and have even organized petitions to request a town hall.

He is now free to do so while he is out on his “Epstein Recess.” We have, by email and phone, invited Juan Ciscomani to meet with us on August 16 outside of the building where he announced that he has an office in Sierra Vista.

Despite our request, Ciscomani’s office sent the message that he will not be meeting with us. We still intend to gather as concerned Cochise County citizens to send this message and share our concerns:

Juan Ciscomani will not meet with his constituents!

When we gather, we can display signs addressing the many issues arising from the authoritarian takeover of our country, while also posing questions to the empty space where he should be—including the big one:

“Where’s Juan?”
