It has been frankly nauseating watching some fair weather Democrats when asked about the assertions (several of them discredited by former NSC Advisor Jake Sullivan and DNC Chair Jamie Harrison)in the Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson book, Original Sin, whether Joe Biden should have run for a second term or should have not run at all, either say ‘Yes, he should not have run’ or as Senator Raphael Warnock evasively said on Meet the Press yesterday (June 1) “The election is over and I’m going to spend all of my energy focused on the task in front of us” with what Trump is doing to the country with his and his MAGA allies proposed cuts on Medicaid and SNAP.
It is frankly stupid that Democrats ridicule the one Presidential nominee that beat Donald Trump and the one whose Presidency had legislative accomplishments that rivaled the achievements of Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society and War on Poverty programs.
The assertion reported in the Tapper book that aides considered putting Mr. Biden in a wheelchair should not be especially concerning considering the Biden/Harris team’s accomplishments and the fact that aides rightly said the writers could not find one example of poor judgment from Mr. Biden attributable to any physical or mental decline.
Furthermore, people need to remember that the last President who was in a wheelchair throughout his three full terms in office was Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the Chief Executive that delivered the New Deal, Social Security, the Minimum Wage, largely spearheaded the victory over totalitarianism, and, before his death, helped craft the Post War Order that Truman built on that led to American prosperity and global leadership for the next eight decades.

That worked out well for the American People who seem to forget that the macho men you want to have a beer with Presidents like Reagan (with Nancy whispering what to say in his ear,) Bush II, and Trump (the real unhinged one who now puts out posts saying Biden is an evil clone and talked about Hannibal Lecter on the Campaign Trail) spent much of their Presidencies trying to tear down the American Social Contract that Democratic Presidents Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, Clinton, Obama, and Biden built and expanded.
Democratic stakeholders really need to do better at defending Joe Biden and all he and his team did.
Outside of the classy op-ed from Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego thanking President Biden and his team for all they did for her city and Arizona, praise for the 46th Chief Executive, in the Grand Canyon State has been few and far between from Democrats.
Finally, yesterday, former President Bill Clinton and Texas House Representative Jasmine Crockett showed the way on how to defend the former President.
When asked about President Biden’s reported decline in an interview with CBS, Mr. Clinton replied:
“I thought he was a good President. The only concern I thought they had to deal with, was could anybody do that job until they were 86 and we’d had several long talks. I had never seen him and walked away, thinking he can’t do this anymore. He was always on top of his brief…I saw President Biden not very long ago, and I thought he was in good shape, But the book didn’t register with me because I never saw him that way...I think he did a good job and I think we are facing challenges today without precedent in our history and some people are trying to use this as a way to blame him for the fact That Trump was re-elected.”
In another interview, Representative Crockett framed the Biden defense better, telling an interviewer:
“And let me tell you no one claimed that he was unintelligent or that there was some level of decline to where he was unable to comprehend or unable to perform. That did not exist, and so the fact that we buy into these false narratives, the fact that we’re even having this conversation when literally Joe Biden is not the president, and right now, whatever harms that are going to be suffered by the American people have nothing to do with Joe Biden because we didn’t have to worry about the stock market crashing every other day when Joe Biden was in office. We didn’t have to worry about whether or not people were going to have their Medicaid when Joe Biden was in office. We didn’t have debates about whether or not people would have Social Security when Joe Biden was in office. So, let me tell you if Joe Biden was, like, mentally, deficient in some way, and he was still able to keep this sucker on the tracks, then give me a mentally deficient Joe Biden any given day over Donald Trump.”
This is former President Biden, after being diagnosed with prostate cancer, giving Memorial Day remarks, without a teleprompter last week.
This is Joe Biden answering questions, without help, following that event, including reminding reporters that historians rank his Presidency towards the upper third and Mr. Trump’s first term dead last.
Where is the mental decline Tapper and Thompson were talking about.
Joe Biden did not let the American People down.
The 77 million American People, who after a Trump first term that saw false promises about building a wall and having a health care plan better and less expensive than Obamacare, two impeachments, a mismanaged pandemic, and an attack on the Nation’s Capitol on January 6 because the Felon in Chief could not accept defeat, are the ones who let the American People down because they actually, despite the well publicized track record, believed his lies that he would bring prices down.
How is that working out?
The millions who voted in 2020 for Biden and decided to sit 2024 out also let the American People down. If continuing the progress that was made in the Biden/Harris Administration and protecting Democracy from Donald Trump and his Project 2025 MAGA apostates was not good enough reason to get off the couch and exercise your right to vote, do not even think about blaming Mr. Biden for how the election turned out.
These people and the arm chair fair weather Democrats that helped bring the Administration down only have to look in a mirror to find out why they lost in 2024.

Dems looking back instead of ahead.
Biden did some good things but in music we say you’re only as good as your last record.
Biden let COVID benefits for millions of children end, was clearly not 100% “here”, made a political decision on Gaza instead of the humane thing, and lost to Donald The Rapist, Felon, and BFF to Jeff Epstein Trump.
It’s a WORSE f’up than HRC’s massive failure in 2016, because we should have known better.
The sooner Dems primary Schumer and the rest of my gray haired peers and move on from Biden the better.
