Still nothing in the mail from Starlee Rhoades at the Goldwater Institute answering my simple question: What does "many" mean in her sentence:
"We believe the term bureaucrat accurately describes many of the employees in question and is a fair use of the term."
This is in reference to Matthew Ladner's statement that Arizona's school districts have "an almost 1-to-1 teacher to bureaucrat ratio." For that to be true, bus drivers, maintenance workers and food service workers all have to be bureaucrats.
As I see it, Rhoades and G.I. have a problem which gets more problematic by the day.
If they don't respond to my letter, I just keep the Please, Mr. Postman watch up day after day after day.
If they respond, they can hold fast to the ridiculous notion that a bus driver is a bureaucrat, and look like fools. Or they can admit bus drivers aren't bureaucrats, which means Ladner's 1-to-1 teacher-to-bureaucrats statement is an error, and which also means they look foolish for trying to deny it all this time, and they have to publish an admission of error on their website. Or they can try to sneak a non-response response by me in hopes I won't catch it or I'll just get bored and go away (not much chance of either of those happening).
If they have another option, I haven't thought of it.
The best option is for G.I. to just fess up and get it over with — in my opinion, anyway. Meanwhile . . .
"Please Mr. Postman. C'mon, deliver the letter, the sooner the better."
