During Brewer's two day special session called to extend unemployment, where no bill was ever brought to the floor, Democrats suggested legislators should turn their per diem pay back to the state. Making money by refusing to help Arizona's unemployed? It doesn't make sense.

The Republicans, of course, weren't interested.

So the Democrats have decided to donate their per diems to help the unemployed and homeless. Here's the media release:

Democratic lawmakers to donate paychecks to jobs organization

STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX – Democratic lawmakers will hold a press conference Tuesday to donate their per diem from the special session on unemployment to Community Voice Mail, the only organization in Arizona that has the capacity to provide free, local voicemail service to the unemployed and homeless.
