Has FOX topped itself?

I simply would not have believed this if I hadn’t seen it. The Washinton Monthly blog spotlighted a comment about Tiger Woods by Brit Hume on FOX.

Here’s Hume’s money quote:

“The extent to which he can recover seems to me depends on his faith. He is said to be a Buddhist. I don’t think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith. So, my message to Tiger is, ‘Tiger, turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world.”

Really. He said that.

A moment of unintentional humor, not to mention personal shame, comes at the end of the clip when Hume turned to his panel. Bill Kristol, who is Jewish, gave a quiet laugh, then said he thinks it’s “admirable” that Hume is concerned about Woods’ soul, but he’s thinking more about Woods’ golf game.

Um, Bill, you’re not concerned that Brit thinks the only way to become a better person is to become a Christian? You don’t think, as a non-Christian, you might make a comment about the fact that every religion has a moral code which can help someone be a better person, not just Christianity?
