Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs and Mayors across Arizona like Phoenix’s Kate Gallego, Tucson’s Regina Romero, and Mesa’s John Giles have hailed the start of Pride Month, honoring the members of the LGBTQ Community.
In an official press release, Governor Hobbs stated:
“I’m proud to stand tall for an Arizona that’s for everyone, including the LGBTQ+ community. To the LGBTQ+ Arizonans, we celebrate the light and energy you bring to our state, and I will continue to work alongside you until we have an Arizona where everyone, no matter who they are or who they love, has the safety, freedom, and opportunity to truly live their authentic lives.”
Later she posted on social media, showing the flags draped commemorating Pride Month around the Executive Tower.
Kicking off pride month leaving no room for doubt that in Arizona, we celebrate the light and energy the LGBTQ+ community brings to our state. The Mayors of Arizona’s three largest cities: Phoenix, Mesa, and Tucson also posted announcements honoring Pride Month.
Mayor Gallego posted:
Happy #PrideMonth, Phoenix! 🏳️🌈

Mayor Romero posted:
Mayor Giles posted:
I’m pleased to proclaim June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in the @CITYOFMESA! Our city is inclusive and celebrates diversity, and that’s one of the many reasons why I love living in Mesa. #TogetherMesa #PrideMonth pic.twitter.com/z4PLqhvuXp

Governor Hobbs is right when she says we should all “continue to work alongside you (the LGBTQ Community) until we have an Arizona where everyone, no matter who they are or who they love, has the safety, freedom, and opportunity to truly live their authentic lives.”
The Mayors are right when they call for their communities to be inclusive, diverse, free to love and marry anyone they want, welcome, and embraced.
No one should be discriminated against.
No one should feel like second or third-class citizens.
No one should be victimized because of who they love or want to marry.
Everyone should be treated with dignity, respect, and fairness.
We are all God’s children.
