The Republican vs. Republican battle lines are beginning to shape up here in Arizona now that they have all the power and can't blame what they do, or don't do, on their arch nemesis, Napolitano. No matter how hard they try to wriggle out of it, eventually, they have to own up to their successes and failures. Now more than ever, given the disastrous state of the budget, the buck stops right in their laps.
Jan Brewer said publicly that she doesn't plan to cut all day kindergarten. Yet undoing a program that was one of Napolitano's babies is a fond wish of many Republican legislators. And if they keep program, that means they'll have to cut more elsewhere.
What will happen? If Brewer goes along with the legislators and signs a bill that gets rid of all day kindergarten, it will make lots of people upset, including voters she needs if she wants to win in 2010. But if she strong-arms the legislature or vetoes their legislation, she's got angry legislators and the Republican base to contend with.
We'll soon find out if the Republicans can figure out a way to govern themselves as they try to govern Arizona. They may find themselves in a no-win situation, courtesy, ironically, of their recent victories.
Unintended Pun Note: When I wrote the headline, Horn, Meet Dilemma, I wasn't purposely playing off Tom Horne's name. But given that Horne will feel the repercussions of this dilemma as well, maybe I should retitle this, Brewer and Horne, meet Dilemma. Or maybe not.

@Donna, way to stretch Republican Party positions so far past reality that even MSM newspaper readers will recognize why they should be very skeptical of the victim disarmament crowd.
Republicans do not understand the concept of “govern.” They run for public office because they want power. Do not confuse the desire for power with the desire to govern.
My guess is they will try to distract themselves and the voters with important priorities like intrusive abortion regulations and allowing kindergarteners to carry guns. In bars.
