Horne and McCain: separated at birth?

by David Safier

No, I don't see any physical resemblance between Horne and McCain. It's just that the two of them are becoming equally addlepated in their quests to appeal to crazy-base right wing voters. They've both turned into walking, talking Saturday Night Live skits.

I won't detail McCain's latest tacks to the right. To be honest, I can't keep up with him. He's awfully spry on the flip flop for a man of his years.

But Horne . . . Wow.

As AZ Blue Meanie reported, in Horne's recent attempt to see and raise his previous slurs against Delores Huerta — if you're Horne, you can't repeat too many times how awful those Hispanic people are — he referred to her as "Cesar Chavez's former girlfriend." Way to demean a national icon, Tom.

According to R-Cubed, at today's Democratic press conference slamming Horne for the statement, Horne showed up. He said he may have used the wrong word to describe Huerta. He also said he may have read or heard somewhere that she was Chavez's girlfriend. Uh uh, Tom, that wasn't some casual comment. You knew exactly what you were saying, and why.

According to Tedski, when Horne was pressed, he couldn't come up with any information about Huerta, other than the fact that she said Republicans hate Hispanics. Maybe he needs to take a La Raza class to fill in the gaps in his knowledge of American history.

Horne is a Harvard educated lawyer. How many times each day does he hit himself over the head with a wooden mallet to make himself dumb enough to appeal to Republican voters?
