Last week I said KGUN got it wrong when it ran this headline:
My conclusion wasn't based on insider information. It's just that I'd read a bunch of stories where TUSD officials said HB 2281, the anti-Ethnic Studies bill, wouldn't shut down the district's Ethnic Studies program.
Sure enough.
TUSD: Bill won't alter ethnic studies
Despite the passage of legislation that takes aim at TUSD's ethnic-studies program, the district has no intentions to do anything differently.
Will KGUN run a new story that begins, "We reported TUSD would be eliminating its Ethnic Studies program. It looks like we spoke too soon . . ."?
I don't expect the station to admit it pulled the headline out of its nether regions without so much as checking with anyone from TUSD. A simple correction will do. Not for me, but for its viewers, on whose side KGUN claims to be on.
