There are two ways to look at the events which occurred last night in Arizona Legislative District (LD) 13 where over 130 precinct committee representatives gathered to vote on submitting the names of three candidates to replace the expelled former State House Representative Liz Harris to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.
LD 13 encompasses parts of Chandler and Gilbert, Arizona.
One way is that the very vocal and well-attended Harris supporters took a page out of what happened in Tennessee the last couple of weeks and voted to place the expelled now Ex-Representative’s name in nomination for the Supervisors to consider along with two other candidates.

The second perspective is that the lunatics are truly running the asylum in LD 13. Six Arizona Rangers were on site to ensure a peaceful process.

The press, despite objections from leading Republicans, was excused from the meeting for a while after a 98 to 35 vote to kick them out.
LD 13 GOP votes to expel reporters from their meeting. Tonight, they will choose the names of three Republicans to send to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. The board must choose one of the names to replace expelled Rep. Liz Harris, R. Vote: 98 to kick out, 35 to not https://t.co/tMsx1bP0oW

Former Representative Harris, the person who members of her own party voted to expel because of her knowingly enabling conspiracy theories implicating them during a hearing at the State Capitol, apparently received the most votes in the nominating process followed by the person she ran with for the House in 2022, the Kari Lake-Mark Finchem endorsed Julie Willoughby.

The third nominee sent to the Supervisors is another kindred election-denying spirit of Harris, Steve Steele.
More evidence that the lunatics are running the asylum? The P.C.’s could have submitted the name of former Arizona Senate President Steven Yarbrough as one of the nominees. The MAGA attendees apparently figured his brand of conservatism, one that supported private school vouchers and religious objections to same-sex marriage, was too mellow for them.
It is safe to say this is not Tennessee where a Republican-only attempt to expel two young Black State Legislators for joining protestors advocating gun safety positions was beaten back by local authorities reappointing the two men.
Here in Arizona, we have a known liar and conspiracy theory enabler who broke House decorum and received the deciding votes to expel her from members of her own party.
Then, in a slap to all that is grounded in reality and decency, this person’s supporters, who obviously have taken over LD 13, gave her the most nominating votes to send to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.
What is worse, the second and third nominees, judging from their reported positions and list of supporters, are probably not acceptable alternatives either. The only consideration in their favor is they, unlike Harris, have not been placed in a position to embarrass themselves or their party yet at the State Capitol.
Maybe the Board of Supervisors will play rock, paper, scissors to decide the winner since there are no extensive lists of merits to evaluate.
That part of the East Valley is becoming increasingly bluer.
It is entirely possible that if Harris is returned or one of the others is sent to the Capitol to replace her, their performance in and outside office may result in Democratic State Representative Jennifer Pawlik finally getting the opportunity to run with another Democrat in 2024 and they both take seats in the State House in 2025.

Please, God, let the MariCo BoS be that stupid…
If I remember correctly, some Maricopa County supervisors were accused of corruption. Without any evidence of that being presented.
So the MCBOS could reappoint her, but I wouldn’t suggest holding your breath while waiting for them to do so.
Looks like a perfect place to not fall for the “Single Shot” nonsense.
