Major federal gun legislation announced

Sen. Chuck Schumer has announced legislation that will:

1. Get all the names of people who should be prohibited from buying guns into the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).
2. Require a background check for every gun sale in America.

This is very similar to the kind of gun policies advocated in the Star editorials over the past few days.
