Mark Brnovich Puts Political Ambition Over Public Safety Again

Mark Brnovich is trying to rehabilitate himself with the fringe base of his party that is disenchanted with him for not protesting the Arizona results of the 2020 Presidential Election.

In an attempt to demonstrate (before the Republican Senate Primary which he is running in) that he has their science-denying-Know Nothing interests at heart, the Arizona Attorney General is launching a politically motivated lawsuit against the new (and still being drafted) Biden/Harris Administration Vaccine Mandate Rules.

These rules would institute new COVID 19 vaccine requirements on employers with one hundred or more employees and federal contractors.

Brnovich’s justification:

“That is a clear violation of the equal protections clause in the U.S. Constitution…do not have authority to impose the vaccination mandate on U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents, let alone discriminate against them as compared to unauthorized aliens.”

Notice how Mr. Brnovich is invoking the white nationalist fear of the other in his arguments.

Earlier in the month, Mr. Brnovich made similar headlines when he stated that the City of Tucson vaccine mandate on city employees was illegal.

Cleary the wishes of the science-denying fringe few weigh more on Brnovichs mind than the public safety of all. That is why he is pursuing this suit instead of focusing on other issues like reducing hate crimes which have surged to their highest levels in the Grand Canyon State since 2001.

In reporting by KTAR, several legal experts expressed doubt that lawsuits like Mr. Brnovich will pass the legal smell test.

At a White House Briefing, Press Secretary Jen Psaki defended the new Biden/Harris directives, relaying:

“The law basically requires the Department of Labor take action when it finds grave risk to workers. And certainly, a pandemic that killed more than 600,000 people qualifies as grave risk to workers.”

Reacting to the Brnovich lawsuit, Arizona Democratic Party Chairperson Raquel Teran commented:

“Once more, Mark Brnovich is using his office for political gain, even as that means endangering Arizonans. His actions today show that Brnovich cares more about scoring political points in his GOP primary than he does taking real steps to end this pandemic. Arizonans now clearly see that their public health and public safety will never be more important to Brnovich than his own political ambitions.”

From a strictly political view, Brnovich, in the words of Joe Biden should “have at it” with his lawsuit.

Most experts agree suits like these will not survive.

Furthermore, this development can only benefit Senator Mark Kelly because Brnovich, in casting his support for a minority fringe over the greater public interests, will only alienate the independent and moderate Republican voters he will need if he has any hopes to prevail in the 2022 elections.

So knock yourself out, Mr. Attorney General.

Put political ambition over public safety.

The voters will remember in 2022.
