Mike Johnson’s Holy War Against Democracy: The Coward Who Fears Adelita Grijalva

There are moments in political life so morally bankrupt, so cynically calculated, and with such disregard for the voice of the people that they demand to be inscribed in History. Some people’s lives may best serve only as an example to others. Such is Mike Johnson. Let History take note.

Speaker Johnson refuses to seat Congresswoman-elect Adelita Grijalva, a duly elected representative from Arizona, in a seat she indisputably won. And we all know why. His smug gaslighting aside, the Preacher of the House serves one Lord only – and his name is Trump.

Unjust power fears accountability. Much of the GOP would rather sabotage this nation than purge their own evil. The Speaker holds the healthcare of the American people hostage so that his Lord and Master might not suffer justice.

And in so doing, he owns the most grotesque abdications of duty to country in the modern era of American governance.

Johnson has made his choice: to cover for the most unhinged crimes of a vile authoritarian. When Marjorie Taylor Greene — yes, that Marjorie — finds your allegiance too extreme, you are no longer merely fringe. You are in freefall. If you’re to the right of MTG, you’re basically bunkmates with Joseph Goebbels. Johnson’s reputation for all time will be suffused with the stench of his putrid priorities.

The arc of American democracy has always bent under the strain of such creatures: “men” who market their cowardice as conviction and their delusions as divine right. The Speaker does not serve the Constitution — he is its enemy – and as such is the enemy of every true American.

History will remember:

Regarding the government shutdown, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene says, “I’m actually putting the blame on the Speaker. This should not be happening.”
  • Who stood silent as children were separated from their parents.
  • Who voted to abandon democracy as our neighbors were kidnapped by masked Christian Nationalists pretending to serve “Order.”
  • Who watched the flames of fascism rise and called it “God’s plan.”

And we will remember who commits in vain to keep Adelita Grijalva from her rightful place in Congress — Preacher Johnson saw her courage and fears it.

Sabotage over service

Mark this as the moment when even the illusion of good faith died, and who killed it. When Mike Johnson, wielding the House gavel, chooses sabotage over service. When he elevated hostage-taking over healing. When he planted Trump’s flag – not on any principle — but on petty pursuit of power for power’s sake – the very stuff our Founders warned of.

To our friends, our fighters, our Watchers on the Wall — stand tall. This is the hour for clear eyes and louder voices.

Adelita Grijalva represents not just Pima County, but the multiethnic, working-class majority that still believes that a government made up of good people can serve all the people. She will not be stopped. We will not be silenced.

And this Speaker — brittle, belligerent, and bound to fail — will be remembered for what he is.

Sunlight is a great disinfectant, Mr. Johnson. And you don’t have enough SPF in your world to stop the burn that’s coming.
