More Madness in the Know Nothing Trump Governments War on Science

Another week.

More madness and backward attacks on reality, people’s health, the environment, and progress from the Obtuse Know Nothing Trump Government continuing war on science and knowledge.

First, in his quest to undo all things Biden and Harris, the climate denying Trump and his MAGA apostates are repealling $7 billion in solar energy grants that would assist low and moderate income households in being able to pay (afford to) for their utility bills.

So much for lowering costs for the American People.

Second, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy announced that, after deliberations with the anti vaccine crackpots he has installed in his department, cancelled $500 million in grants for mRNA vaccine technologies that help develop Coronavirus Vaccines.

Click below to watch Mr. Kennedy’s announcement, steeped in science denying lunacy.

Reacting to the cancelling of the Solar Grants to help people afford to pay their utility bills, Climate Mayors Executive Director Kate Wright issued a statement that read:

Solar for All is a transformative program helping mayors across the country deliver affordable, reliable, and clean solar energy to families who need it the most. No hardworking family should have to choose between keeping their lights on and putting food on the table. Attempting to cancel Solar for All could result in one million Americans seeing their energy costs go up. Climate Mayors around the country remain steadfast in their commitment to deliver innovative clean energy solutions that lower energy bills, create good-paying jobs, and cut toxic pollution.”

Arizona Governor Katie Hobb’s reaction was just as stern as Ms. Wright, posting:

“President Trump ran on lowering costs and creating jobs. Gutting Solar for All will do the exact opposite. It makes our air dirtier, our energy bills higher, and our economy weaker. I will continue to fight for the clean and affordable energy future Arizonans want and deserve.”

Senator Ruben Gallego wrote:

“Energy bills keep climbing, and now the Trump admin wants to cut $7 billion in grants that help working families pay those bills with clean energy alternatives. I’m calling on the EPA to stand down and reverse course.”

Arizona Congressional District One Candidate Dr. Amish Shah commented to Blog for Arizona:

“In Arizona, we get a lot of sun and we should use that to continue to power our electric grid with clean, cheap energy. Science and innovation is what has built our country, and the government should be leaning into that, not cutting it off.

Reacting to Kennedy termination of the vaccine grants, Dr. Shah offered:

“As an emergency physician, I see every day what breakthroughs in medical technology can do to help people stay healthy and live longer. The idea that the Trump Administration would cut off funding for vaccine research is almost too dumb to believe.”

Matt Bennett of Third Way also conveyed his perspective on the Kennedy anti vaccine move, posting:

It’s not just the craven grifting or the vicious cruelty – it’s the abject stupidity.”

He also commented to Blog for Arizona:

“Trump’s former surgeon general condemned the announcement, noting this is halting research into vaccines for flu, RSV, HIV, Zika, cancer and autoimmune diseases. Trump promised to bring order to the chaos, but here his Administration is making Americans more vulnerable to future emergencies and increasing the risk to our communities.”

Arizona House Representative Greg Stanton posted:

“Vaccines developed using mRNA technology saved American lives during the COVID-19 pandemic—and they were fast-tracked by the first Trump administration! RFK’s anti-science agenda will grind lifesaving research to a halt and set us back decades for no good reason.”

This is madness.

Jeopardizing lives by cutting off the production of life saving vaccines is madness.

Denying people the chance to purchase clean energy options that will allow them to pay smaller utility bills is madness.

Denying science is madness.

Americans deserve public servants that will not take them backward to the Dark Ages.
