Move to recall Rule-of-Law Russ begun

by David Safier

Did you hear the one about a Recall Russell Pearce drive? Not if you rely on the Star, you didn't. But you can read about it in the East Valley Trib, the Phoenix New Times, the Yuma Sun and KSAZ Phoenix.

Note that Yuma is way outside Pearce's legislative district, as is Tucson. And the Trib and Sun are both carrying a Howard Fischer story, which is equally available to the Star.

I just checked the Star website. So far as I can tell, nothing there either.

Yet the Star has been covering the Dupnik controversy nonstop, and it's given lots of press to a Dupnik recall drive started by a Utah talk show host. Yeah, I know, Dupnik is Pima county. But Pearce is as much a state figure as Jan Brewer these days. A bit of balance would be nice, don't you think?

The recall petition drive has been started by DeeDee Blase of Somos Republicans. That's an interesting story, don't you think? Hispanic Republican bites Pearce?

What do you think, Star folks. There's always the Saturday paper. It's a good story. Really.

UPDATE, 5:30PM: Still nothing on the Star website about the Rule-of-Law Russ repeal drive. But I heard about it on NPR while I drove home. There's always the Saturday paper. I live in hopeful expectation.
