This is the person who wants to become the next occupant of the Oval Office in 2029.
A career opportunist who did a political 360 degree turn on Donald Trump from calling him “America’s Hitler” to publicly doing his bidding and championing his policies like sending ICE Gestapo after nonviolent immigrants and American Citizens including lying with his claims that the reverse Robin Hood Big Billionaire Bill will not hurt middle and working class voters, the very people he claimed to come from and yet has turned his back on them.
A Senate Candidate who said women should stay and stick it out in abusive relationships.
An historically illiterate moron, who like his American Duce wannabe master, spends his spare time appeasing and fawning over the leadership style and Machiavellian machinations of their man hero, Vladimir Putin.
Today, Mr. Vance, in an interview with Meet the Press’s Kristen Welker, again demonstrated his fondness for Putin and lack of historical knowledge, claiming that the Russian dictator has made concessions in negotiations to end the war against Ukraine and all major conflicts, specifically World Wars One and Two, were resolved with negotiated settlements.
First, he engaged in double talk with Ms. Welker after she asked if “The Russians were stringing Trump along” when he said that the Russians have made concessions and shown flexibility in their dealings with Mr. Trump with regard to the war in Ukraine.
What those concessions are is a mystery to everyone else not in MAGA world.
When Ms. Welker asked, “If Russia is allowed to keep any of the territory that it illegally seized, what message does that send to China? Does it give China a green light to invade Taiwan? Does it give Russia agreement like to invade other European countries, which is what your European allies are concerned about,” Mr. Vance replied:
“First of all, the Ukrainians are going to ultimately make the determination about where you draw the territorial lines in their own country. But Kristen, this is how Wars ultimately get settled. If you go back to World War II. If you go back to World War One. If you go back to every major conflict in human history. They all end with some kind of negotiation. We’re actually not active parties in the negotiation. We’re effectively mediating. We’re trying to mediate the ukrainians and the Russians to come to some agreement. If the Ukrainians are willing to to say something on territory that brings the conflict to the close, we’re not going to stop them. We’re also not going to force them because it’s not our country. We’re trying to play a constructive role. The President is trying to play a constructive role to bring peace to the region, But he’s not going to force these parties to walk through the door. All he can do is open the door and ask them to negotiate a good faith.”
For those who are not sure about the history of how the first two World Wars ended, it needs to be stressed that the Allies and Associated Powers dictated peace terms to the Central Powers following the Great War.
The Germans, who boasted that they were never invaded in the conflict, called the Treaty of Versailles a “diktat” and a betrayal of what they thought the terms they would be receiving under President Woodrow Wilson’s Fourteen Points.
To be fair, the Germans had no problem dictating peace terms to the Russians at Brest Litovsk after the Bolsheviks sued for peace following their October/November 1917 Revolution.
And their fondness for Wilson’s Fourteen Points and desire for peace based on them was only because they knew that the military situation on the Western and Southeastern European fronts were deteriorating.
It is that German attitude that they were never defeated and they were dictated to in the First World War that the Allies Powers in the Second One (President Franklin Roosevelt, Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and Soviet Leader Joseph Stalin) all agreed that Germany and Japan had to unconditionally surrender so there would be no doubt that they were defeated.
Vance’s ignorant comments were met with push back almost immediately after he said them.
Matt Bennett at Third Way wrote:
“What the actual f–k is he talking about? We demanded an unconditional surrender in Japan, and in Germany there was no one left to even negotiate with.”
Bulwark Commentator Tim Miller commented:
“Everybody remembers that seminal moment in WW2 with FDR in his wheelchair rolling out the red carpet for Hitler discussing which portions of France he will get in exchange for peace.”
California Senator Adam Schiff posted:
“Surrender is unconditional.” If this White House doesn’t even know how we defeated the last tyrant invading Europe, how can we expect them to go toe-to-toe with the current one.”
The American First Movement in the 1930’s and 40’s that preached isolation and appeasement with totalitarian governments rising all around the world was historically proved wrong.
This second America First Movement, spearheaded by Know Nothing Donald Trump and JD Vance will be proven wrong to.
Hopefully, lives will not be lost in the process of proving it.
