Numerous News Outlets to read in Tucson

How do we get the news here in Southern Arizona?  There’s the print (and online) AZ Daily Star, and the alternative Tucson Weekly (Thursdays in print, also online).  When we first arrived in Tucson back in 1987, there was also the afternoon paper, The Tucson Citizen, which ceased publication in print in 2009, online in 2014. *

But in addition, there’s now numerous online news outlets, which you can choose to follow:

Tucson Sentinel – Tucson’s watchdog news, https://www.tucsonsentinel.com/

Az Luminaria –  “Arizona Luminaria is a nonprofit newsroom dedicated to truly local news and community-centered journalism’ lighting the path so you can take action”, https://azluminaria.org/

Arizona Agenda  – “The weekday brieflng that takes you behind the scenes in Arizona politics”, https://www.arizonaagenda.com/

Tucson Agenda – “Your daily guide to Tucson’s politics, policies and power players”, https://www.tucsonagenda.com/

Tucson Spotlight – “To provide Southern Arizona with robust, community-based journalism emphasizing solutions, local governments, education, sustainability, social services and politics, and issues through the lens of the Hispanic communinity”, https://www.tucsonspotlight.org/

Lookout – “nonprofit news outlet dedicated to serving Arizona’s LGBTQ+ community”, https://www.lookoutnews.org/

The Arizona Daily Wildcat (“Since 1899 the student voice of the University of Arizona and Tucson”) is now mostly online too: https://wildcat.arizona.edu/, and they seem to now publish in print only monthly (though called a daily paper).

on PBS TV there’s Arizona Public Media, https://azpm.org/,

and of course us at Blog for Arizona, “politics from a liberal viewpoint”, https://blogforarizona.net/.

It’s a lot to read daily but I try to peruse as many of these online media sources as I can.  Not to mention state and national news.  Happy reading and please be vigilant in 2026. We need to be during these times of Trump.

*I was guest columnist at The Tucson Citizen in 2008, then a blogger for www.tucsoncitizen.com from 2009 to when it ceased operation in 2014. Been at Blog for Arizona since then, 12 years now.
