Obama’s weekly address about health care

by David Safier

Reports of the death of health care reform may be greatly exaggerated (he said, hopefully).

Dems are making noises about passing a public option in reconciliation. The upcoming health care summit clearly has Republicans shaking in their boots. ("It's a trap! It's a trap! When we make ridiculous statements, that Obama guy is gonna respond. I want my Hannity! I want my Blitzer!") And Dems, for the first time in awhile, seem to have a bit of pep in their steps.

Prediction: If Rs attend the summit, their first line of attack will be Medicare, specifically Medicare Advantage rate hikes. If that happens, Dems better nail them for recent statements about moving toward medical vouchers, not to mention privatizing Social Security. If they're going to play the "protectors of senior citizens" card, they have to be called on it.

Or will it be Death Panels? Any predictions?

Here's Obama's weekly address: Premiums, Profits, and the Need for Health Reform.
