Paint the Picture of America After Trump’s Mass Deportations

Kären Gleason is coauthor of this article.

Instead of responding with horror at the sight of US troops in our cities, let’s cut the crap and talk about where this is all headed in Trump’s America. Let’s “Paint the Picture” of what our country will look like after Trump deports most of our immigrants, documented or undocumented, from our beautiful country.

  • Who will pick our crops? Farmers will go out of business, and food prices will skyrocket.
  • Food production will be decimated.
  • The construction industry will grind to a halt, and homelessness will increase.
  • Restaurants will close. unemployment rates will increase.
  • Hotels will not be able to operate efficiently, and unemployment will go up.
  • Hospital rooms will go uncleaned, and patients will be unattended.
  • Manufacturing, such as the garment industry, will shut down and move overseas.
  • Retail trade will slow down.
  • No more taxis, DoorDash or other home deliveries.
  • Landscaping and cleaning services will disappear.
  • Who will take care of our elders at home or in elder care facilities?
  • Who will take care of and teach our kids while we all go to work?
  • What about our universities as foreign students get deported? America loses.
  • Who will raise their right hand and put on a uniform to protect us from our enemies?

Our point is that every part of our society will be negatively affected by discriminatory deportations. But, we are asking you to stop highlighting anecdotal cases of some high school kid or restaurant worker getting “disappeared” and instead go to 30,000 feet and “paint the picture” of what happens to America after Trump’s Mass Deportation efforts.

Democrats need to call Trump’s bluff. The timing is perfect. In 2023, according to the Pew Research Center, were foreign born (see “U.S. Immigrant population in 2023”)  What if they are all deported? What does America look like then? In reality, aren’t most of us from immigrant families?  Don’t be frozen or myopic. Speak up loudly! Paint the Picture! Now!

Tell America on every platform what mass deportation means for all of us. We think it means everything grinds to a halt. And families get torn apart, and fear will grip every community in America. This is not the America we want to live in. “Paint the Picture,” Democrats!

We don’t have all the answers, but how about we make it crystal clear, in the gut, that there is hell coming to every facet of our communities unless we stop this madness and offer a better solution.

First, Paint the Picture of what mass deportation will do to our country, and then state our goals for every State House and Congress to improve that picture:

  • Improve border security and exploit new technologies to keep drugs and criminals out.
  • Document everyone in the country.
  • Deport the criminals, the bad guys.
  • Leave the good guys alone, providing visas to all who wish to stay and contribute.
  • Improve the journey to citizenship.

Then, Paint a new Picture of America, one where we know who is here and why. The bad guys are deported so that crime will decrease everywhere. Businesses will grow with a dependable flow of workers. Manufacturing will come back. Tax revenues go up. Our elderly will be taken care of. Fear of deportation vanishes, kids will be educated, and families will flourish. And, let’s all admit, loud and clear: Immigrants Make America Great.

Paint the Pictures, Democrats.
