Pearce recall: Game on!

Looks like almost 3,000 more signatures than required are enough to put the Recall Pearce campaign over the top, according to Maricopa County elections officials.

[County Elections Director Karen] Osborne says her office is certifying that the petitions have 10,365 valid signatures of voters from the Mesa Republican's legislative district.

The certification itself just refers to the number of valid signatures, not the state-set requirement for 7,756 valid signatures.

The secretary of state still has to verify, and Brewer has to call an election.

Pearce, in a "surprise" announcement, says he won't resign. Get ready for the post Fourth of July fireworks of a election featuring Pearce and candidate(s) to be named later.
