Perry uses “class warfare” on Romney

by David Safier

In an anti-Romney ad from Perry — which deserves watching just for its end-of-the-world-coming-attractions vibe — Romney is portrayed as an Obamacare-loving, flip-flopping liberal. But here's a line worth spotlighting:

"Even the richest man can't buy back his past."

Perry pulls out the class card and shines it at Romney like it's a crucifix being flashed at a vampire. What's the problem? Is there something wrong with being super-rich, Rick?

DYLAN ALLUSION UPDATE: I just heard echoes of Rick Perry's line, above, wafting back to me from my past. Bob Dylan, circa 1962: "Masters of War":

All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul.

 Here's the entire verse:

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul.
