In another stunning bout of alternative realityitis, the Environmental Punishment Agency, according to the New York Time’s Maxine Joselow, announced last week that they would no longer require “thousands of coal-burning power plants, oil refineries, steel mills and other industrial facilities across the country…to report the amount of heat-trapping greenhouse gases that they release into the air.”
The move, designed to help MAGA corporate fossil fuel donors save $2.4 billion in reporting costs will, if approved, rescind a reporting requirement that has been in place since 2010.
What can possibly go wrong?
This is another example of the efforts by the Trump-MAGA-Project 2025 regime to push back on clean energy-sustainable programs advanced in the Obama and Biden Administrations.
Commenting on the latest backward move by the Environmental Punishment Agency, Kate Wright, the Executive Director of Climate Mayors wrote in a statement:
“Requiring polluters to report their emissions is a critical way local governments can keep track of how industries in their cities are impacting people’s health. Air pollution kills about 135,000 Americans each year – and cities are working hard every day to lower that number. They need access to that data to help them make the best decisions for their communities and ensure people across the country can breathe clean air free of toxic, cancer-causing chemicals. Without that accountability in place, emissions will go unchecked, and thousands of Americans will pay the price.”
Arizona House Representative Yassamin Ansari posted:
“Here we go again: another reward for Big Oil for helping Donald Trump get elected.”
It should be noted that the policies advanced by the Trump Know Nothing-Science Denying-Rob from the Poor to Give to the Rich-Return to the Gilded Age Government will have one result.
Innocent people will die either because pollution is allowed to fester, health-vaccine guidelines are subverted, or access to health care and food assistance is taken away.
This is Trump’s America.
