In a Star article about killing the suspended equalization property tax, quoting Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Gilbert:

"Education does not create jobs," he said. "Entrepreneurs and businesses create jobs."

Biggs added that it wouldn't matter whether Arizona has the best-educated work force in the country if higher taxes drive companies out of business.

  1. So, basically he is saying we can’t fund public schools because it’s bad for business. I hope he runs on that.

  2. Thanks for the tip. I love it when they read our stuff. And to be honest, I read them on a semi-regular basis as well.

  3. Biggs doesn’t seem to understand the investment in the future. This short term fix is so unvisionary. Companies won’t move here becasue our schools are so underfunded and understaffed. Would anybody with school age children move here?

  4. If low taxes attract companies, why does Mesa struggle to land any industries that don’t involve massages, guns or pawning things?

  5. On the bright side, Mr. Biggs’s policies might help reduce illegal immigration.

    More Arizonans will then be competitive for the manual labor jobs that can be filled by workers who don’t even need to speak English.
