Wanting to continue the fight to preserve Democracy in Arizona and stymie those in Arizona’s MAGA world who want to take it away, Secretary of State Adrian Fontes declared his intention to run for re-election.
In a video with the theme “Protect the Republic,” Secretary Fontes said:
I’m announcing my run for re-election because we’ve got to have strong, stalwart, responsible leadership to stay the course when it comes to running good elections in Arizona. 2024 may not have seen the results that some of us wanted but at the end of the day, your vote counted. And that’s what’s most important to me. I’m a veteran of the Marine Corps, a father and a Native Arizonan. My name is Adrian Fontes. I’m Arizona’s Secretary of State, and I’m hoping to get your support and your vote.”
In a press release announcing his re-electon campaign, Secretary Fontes stated:
“As a Marine, my job is to defend the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Our institutions are under grave threat. So I intend to remain at my post, standing in the breach as Secretary of State, to continue fighting for Arizonans and defending our democratic process.”
The Fontes Re-Election Campaign already had bipartisan endorsements lined up to broadcast in the press release:
Please read those below.
Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego:
“Secretary Fontes kept his promise to protect democracy, strengthen our elections infrastructure, and support the business community. He has earned another term as Secretary of State.”
Former Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer:
“Adrian and I worked together for two years in the buildup to the 2024 general election. Though we didn’t agree on everything, he consistently demonstrated a real care for Arizona voters, a bold willingness to call out nonsense, and a solutions-oriented mentality. There are many people who deserve credit for a highly successful 2024 election cycle. Adrian is one of them. His team is another. Keep on rolling.”
Former Mayor of Tolleson Anna Tovar:
“Secretary Fontes has been a fighter for all regions of Arizona. He’s championed ballot access, fought for critical funding for elections, and has worked honorably to preserve Arizona’s heritage and historical archives. Arizona needs him as Secretary of State.”
Former Mayor of Mesa John Giles:
“Secretary Fontes has been steadfast in his commitment to representing all Arizonans – not just members of his own party or those who agree with him. That’s the true mark of a leader and what we should expect from our elected officials. Let’s reelect Secretary Fontes in 2026.”
