Remembering Hiroshima – Nagasaki – Fukushima on August 6

Nuclear Event 08 06 16_Page_1

It was on August 6, 1945 when the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima in Japan, followed by a 2nd bomb on the city of Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. My paternal grandparents had emigrated from Hiroshima in 1892, but left family behind there.

The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident occurred on March 11, 2011 in Sendai, Japan, where several of my maternal side cousins live. It is important that we remember all the victims of these events.
