Republicans for Katie Hobbs Coalition Emerges

With Gubernatorial Nominee Kari Lake’s radical and extremely dangerous fire and brimstone Trumpist Cult messaging only appealing to the alt-right fringe, mainstream Republicans have found a viable alternative candidate to support 70 days from now in the November 8, 2022 elections…

According to two press releases from the Hobbs Campaign, moderate Republican voices have started to spread the word that the Democratic Arizona Secretary of State is a safer and wiser bet for the ninth floor of the capitol building than the extremist, Trumpist Lake.

In an op-ed written by former Brewer education advisor and current Stand for Children Arizona director Rebecca Gau and local Republican leader Lisa Hoberg, the need, after the Roe v Wade decision and the perpetuation of the Big Lie surrounding the 2020 Presidential election, “for Republican women to make a very careful choice on which female gubernatorial candidate most directly represents our values and should lead our state,” is paramount.

The two registered Republicans further condemned Lake, stating:

“Lake is setting up women to take another fall as well — this time over who has control of our bodies and our families. A Republican woman can hold deeply held beliefs, as we do, that would steer us away from choosing to terminate a pregnancy. But we can also acknowledge that it is a very personal decision between a woman and her doctor and her family. A decision that politicians should stay out of…Lake isn’t about finding common ground, as shown by her rhetoric on overturning the 2020 election and enforcing Arizona’s abortion ban.”

In endorsing Hobbs, they wrote:

“A Hobbs governorship is much more likely to protect education funding, end the “controversy” over the 2020 election, and support women’s autonomy. Seems like the choice is pretty clear.”

Today, according to a press release from the Hobbs for Governor Campaign, a Republicans for Hobbs Coalition has launched.

Among some of the Republican endorsers of the Hobbs campaign are:

Susan Gerard, Arizona Public Health Association Director at Large

Heather Carter, Greater Phoenix Leadership Executive Vice President

Deb Gullett, Arizona Association of Health Plans Executive Director

Ryan Harper, Healthcare Executive

Howard Meyers, Attorney

Richard Dozer, Former President of the Arizona Diamondbacks

Karie Dozer, Media Consultant

Commenting on the formation of this bipartisan coalition, Secretary Hobbs offered:

“The bipartisan coalition that is uniting behind our campaign proves that Arizonans recognize that this race isn’t about Democrat versus Republican. It’s about our shared principles as Arizonans and finding common ground to take on our state’s toughest challenges. While Lake continues to drive a wedge between herself and everyone else, I am working hard to create a future for Arizona where sanity reigns over chaos, unity over division, and solutions over complete and utter nonsense.”
