Congratulations to Adelita, the first Latina elected to Congress from Arizona. Voter runout was 20.34%, but provisional ballots are still being processed and counted. She will be serving from Sept. 2025 till she runs for re-election in 2026, for a 2 year term.
Previous Arizona Latino Congressmen have been Democrats – the late Raul Grijalva (CDs 3 & 7), the late Ed Pastor (CDs 2, 4, 7) and Ruben Gallego (CDs 7 & 3). Current Latino Congressman is Republican Juan Ciscomani (CD 6). Gallego is now one of Arizona’s US Senators.

The regular term of a member of Congress is two years (24 months) though she was elected to serve out the remainder of an unexpired term (15+ months).
Thanks for the correction. Yes, I meant that Adelita will be serving till she runs for re-election in Nov. 2026, for the full 2 year term.
